But what texts am I meant to be looking at?

3. Foreshadowing – though Piggy means that they will be there for along time, until they die, one can not help but echo these words when Piggy is killed.
Piggy and Ralph don’t know if anybody else is on the island at this point

Pathetic fallacy – the weather appears hotter – all of a sudden the boys feel the “weight” of the heat. The “weight” is a metaphor used to describe the pressure, fear and responsibility that is now cast upon the boys.
The lagoon is “highlighted” here – it is so bright that rays of light seem to be shining out of it. This could symbolise the lagoon’s importance as a place of safety – they boys bathe there, cleansing themselves. It is also a place of beauty and the meetings take place next to it.

5. Quote for Blood Brothers:

The repeating of words emphasise the amount of disappointment in Eddie.
This shows brother hood and shows that nature beats nurture because even though they are not aware that they are brothers they still have that bond.

7. Quote for Of Mice and Men:
"O.K. Someday—we're gonna get the jack together and we're gonna have a little house and a couple of acres an' a cow and some pigs and—"
"An' live off the fatta the lan'," Lennie shouted. "An' have rabbits. Go on, George! Tell about what we're gonna have in the garden and about the rabbits in the cages and about the rain in the winter and the stove, and how thick the cream is on the milk like you can hardly cut it. Tell about that George."

This quotes shows the theme of the American Dream
