1 Can the Unmarried Care About the Lord?
“Career Woman” “Irresponsible” “Just not looking hard enough!” “Maybe they’re…..” Can the Unmarried Care About the Lord?

2 In that State in which he was called…
Paul is not saying… Paul is saying… The married are obviously more worldly. Only the best Christians are single. There are benefits of being married, but perhaps more if single. One does not sin by marrying, but one might be better off single! Be content, no matter what state you are called.

3 The Unmarried No desire to be married Cannot find someone to marry
Not a scriptural candidate for marriage Widowed

4 Challenges facing our Singles
Age of Adolescence, Age of First Marriage; A larger gap than ever before. Widowed: May now live decades after their spouses’ passing

5 Challenges Facing Our Singles
A unique grief: Never having a spouse, never having children. A world for couples

6 Challenges facing our Singles in the Kingdom
Matchmaking attempts Some attempts are inoffensive. Others cross the line. Availability is not the same as Compatibility (1 Corinthians 7:13-20) (Matthew 19:8-10) Left out Some are unsure of what to say to singles! One of “them” (Matthew 12:48-50)

7 Still work to do One who is not married, has no children
Does not carry such responsibilities of being a parent, a spouse. Is not excluded from the commandments God gives Christians! (John 15:12-13)

8 Still Work to Do Is still capable of having love and patience for their brethren, whether they are married or not, whether they have children or not. (Colossians 3:12-15) Singles have more work than those married may realize.

9 To be a Christian… Does not make us invincible
Unhappy marriages, Compatibility problems, Adultery, Divorce Happy marriages that end unexpectedly in death. Marriage, Children (1 Corinthians 7) Not required from scriptures. No marriage in heaven (Matthew 22:29-30)

10 Singles in the Church The family is under attack, but singles are being forgotten Celibacy may be a good thing for Christians (1 Corinthians 7)

11 Singles in the church The only thing that completes us is Christ (Colossians 2:10) Therefore, singles belong in Christ’s kingdom, and can care for the Lord! Singles now hold for 50% of our country. Do you care for them? Do you care for the Lord?
