The complexities brought about by changes in technology but also in the operational, commercial and regulatory environments within air transport industry, have led, in some cases, to statistical data being presented without uniformity.

This course will introduce to some of the most important data series which ICAO collects. Objective: this course aims to: provide to those who need to collect or make use of international air transport statistics a basic understanding of the standard terminology used, how these data are collected and what they represent;

create a forum to discuss the key element of collecting date for airlines and airports; explain how to effectively conduct market research and to address some of the current and future challenge in data manipulation.

The air transport industry has experienced rapid growth in the past few decades. Investigations into trends and in applying economic analyses provides a necessary foundation for fostering the planning and sustainable development of international air transport.
