5 Why? Discussion How would you tackle this challenge? Milena
With people in your table discuss What do you think are the reasons for these numbers? 5 mins in table + 2 to see what people send 5 mins sharing + 2 to see what people send Pedagogy Number of exit points Less motivation Lack of support ---

6 Instead: Acceleration/Integration
Faster Path to Developmental Math Proficiency Earlier Accumulation of College Credit Fewer Exit Points Dongwook

Collaborative Learning Productive Persistence = Tenacity + Good Strategies “Math Background” Support But it’s hard to know how to do this in the classroom. The Pathways has developed several tools to support instructors to achieve this. This is one tool for supporting instructors to realize the LOs in their classrooms. Emphasize collaborative learning aspect - creating class atmosphere of risk taking and safety if done appropriately. Values students own thinking, but ensures that student walk away with correct big ideas from lesson. For Productive Persistence – Students believe they are capable of learning math, socially tided to peers, course has value, mindset (have skills, habits, know-how to succeeed in college setting), faculty supports (prof .cares)
