3 Summary of discussion CPA members asked over 20 questions of the Board member in attendance, Peter Wilson. Members also addressed each others’ concerns and questions. The main topics of discussion were: Engagement with members, including the importance of voluntary members in the organisations. Member engagement is especially important with members that do not live in capital cities or work in large corporate environments. There should be a channel for all members to engage with CPA Australia and influence the organisation. The Member Forums have helped in this process. The structure of branches in locations close to the border, with members unable to select the branch that is most relevant to them. The current funding model for branches, including management of the budget, was discussed The discussion also covered: The upcoming review and future of CPA Australia Advice How members can communicate with each other, given privacy constraints, the available digital technology and the option for members to opt-in to member-to-member communication The need for up to date information on members, and the potential to gather this at renewal time Damage to the brand as a result of the events of 2017, and how the damage to the brand will be repaired Member retention, and the low number of members who transferred to CA The value for money that members get for their membership fees Limited support that has been provided Public Practitioners, including the lack of lobbying on policy that influences the sector Changes to the code of conduct, and the updated decision making processes related to the code The role of the board in setting the remuneration of CPA Australia staff The process to appoint the new CEO, Andrew Hunter, his experience and ability to change the culture of the organisation Annual General Meeting, and the potential for members to engage via digital technology
