30 Prattsburg Free Library
In Past Years, received funding through taxes collected by the Town of Prattsburgh By Law, the Prattsburg Free Library is allowed to ask the voters of the school district where the library building resides to approve a tax levy specifically for the library. This is a common method of funding public libraries in NY State. The school’s role is only to run the vote for the community library and collect and then turn over any approved tax to the library. 11/22/2018

31 Prattsburg Free Library
The library tax levy vote and budget is separate from the school tax levy and the school budget The only connection is that the law requires the school district to supervise the vote later in May and, if it passes, collect the taxes on the library’s behalf so another tax bill doesn’t have to be given to the property owners of the district. How much to tax is determined solely by the Prattsburg Free Library and not by the school. 11/22/2018 Prattsburgh Central School
