Working with the Drawing Toolbar Start a new PowerPoint presentation and save it under the name, Graphics We will use this presentation to practice using the items from the Drawing Toolbar. Create slides that demonstrate each of the skills presented in this lesson. Have Mr. Schneemann view your presentation or turn in on disk. This is the drawing toolbar In you can not see this toolbar, open the View Menu, select Toolbars, then select Drawing Run the mouse pointer over each button to view its function. (Do not hold Down the button) In this lesson we will be referring to the names of the Drawing Toolbar buttons, so take note of them. 11/22/2018 Frank Schneemann, National University

Start with a blank slide Click on the rectangle tool. Hold down the left mouse button and draw a rectangle. Click on the rectangle button again. This time hold down the Shift key while you draw and notice that you are able to draw a perfect square. Click on either of the shapes you have drawn. Practice changing the size of the objects by clicking on the buttons and changing shapes. 11/22/2018 Frank Schneemann, National University

Start a new slide. Draw four shapes. A rectangle, a square, an ellipse, and a circle.. Hold down the shift key while drawing an ellipse to produce a perfect circle. Select the rectangle by clicking on it. Click on the fill tool button and change its color. Do the same for the square. (Additional colors can be found by selecting “other colors” from the Fill Button) Click on the ellipse to select it. Hold down the Shift Key and click the circle. You have selected two items at once. Select the rectangle by clicking on it. Click the Line Style button and select a thick line Click on the Line Color button Change the color of the line Click on the square Click on the Free Rotate Tool Rotate the square into a diamond using one of the corner buttons Note that you can move shapes around the slide by clicking on the shape, holding down the left mouse button and moving the shape 11/22/2018 Frank Schneemann, National University

Sometimes you may want to group objects Open the AutoShape menu and draw a rectangle and arrow Click to select the rectangle Hold down the Shift Key and click the arrow Right Click the group Select Grouping, then Group Click on the rectangle/arrow group You can now move the group around together You may also format as a group. 11/22/2018 Frank Schneemann, National University

Start a new page Insert a clip art image Right click the image Click Grouping Click Ungroup Click on a blank part of the screen to unselect Now click on individual parts of the clip art to change the colors Experiment by changing colors, textures, etc., or moving picture parts To regroup, use the mouse to draw a box around the entire image to select all parts. WordArt Start a new slide Click the WordArt icon on the drawing toolbar Choose one of the WordArt styles and type your own text Click the WordArt you just created and stretch to size.. If the WordArt toolbar is not showing, Open the View Menu, click Toolbars, click Word Art Experiment with the WordArt Toolbar Change texture, font, background, etc. as you did with other graphics in this lesson 11/22/2018 Frank Schneemann, National University
