Presentation on theme: "Step 1: Outline the Chloroplast Green"— Presentation transcript:

Step 1: Outline the Chloroplast Green

Step 2: Outline the Thylakoids green then lightly shade them (Thylakoids are filled with the pigment Chlorophyll which gives plants their green color)

Step 3: Light comes into the thylakoid membrane. Color that Yellow

Step 4: Water comes in through the vascular tissue
Step 4: Water comes in through the vascular tissue. Add the line and label then color the arrow and H2O Dark Blue

Step 5: Water is broken down into Hydrogen ions and Oxygen
Step 5: Water is broken down into Hydrogen ions and Oxygen. Color the Hydrogen Ions light blue

Step 5 (continued) : Water is broken down into Hydrogen ions and Oxygen. Circle the O2 and have it leave the chloroplast.

Step 6: When water was broken it released an electron which passes through the electron transport chain between the photosystem II and photosystem I. Color these high energy electrons orange.

Intermediate step: The hydrogen ions are pumped against the concentration gradient from outside the thylakoid into the stroma.

Step 7: When the Hydrogen Ions diffuse from the high concentration inside the thylakoid out of the thylakoid they turn ATP synthase. Color both ATP Synthase and the ATP Red.

Step 8: The generated ATP, along with the electron carrier NADPH turn the Calvin Cycle. This cycle would not occur without the previous steps which are considered Light Dependent, however it is known as the Light Independent reaction because it does not directly need Light. Shade this step purple.

Stomata Step 9: Plants take in Carbon Dioxide through their stoma. Stoma is plural for stomata. Stomata are small holes in the bottom of leaves that take in CO2. Change the label to Stomata.

Stomata Step 10: The Carbon in the carbon dioxide is combined to form a 6 carbon sugar, glucose. Color the Carbon triangles Brown.
