2 Four Steps in developing your SV-1 Step 1 - Identify the Product's Timescale
Decide on the timescale that this product is expected to represent (as-is, to-be, transitional) Multiple timescales are often needed for each product; a separate SV-1 should be produced for each timescale that is needed

3 Step 2 - Identify the required SV-1 perspectives (Inter-nodal, Intra-nodal and/or Intra-system)
Decide on the perspectives required to satisfy the architecture’s objective Inter-nodal - Identifies system nodes and system interfaces between the nodes Intra-nodal - Identifies system to system interfaces within a node Intra-system - Decomposes each system to identify its internal components

4 Step 3 - Identify Components from your OV-2
From your OV-2 identify & list Operational nodes and needlines that are or will be physically implemented in the architecture Identify & list System nodes and interfaces that are or will be physically implemented in the architecture Convert needlines to systems interfaces by identifying the system linkages that will physically implement the operational needlines

5 Step 4 - Illustrate System Interface Description
Illustrate the system nodes as icons in a diagram, usually as annotated rectangles Connect the system nodes with arrows or lines to depict the interfaces among them If necessary, enter a textual description of each system interface line on the diagram

6 Templates Two templates have been provided, following this slide
First template is for inter-nodal diagrams Copy, delete, move or amend nodes as required Change, delete or add text as required Use connectors to depict interfaces Duplicate the slides as needed Second template can be used for either intra-nodal or intra-system perspective diagrams Delete the instruction slides when SV-1 completed
