11 So with all this exploration came colonies claimed by the explores
So with all this exploration came colonies claimed by the explores. Spain instituted ways to control these areas with Viceroyalties: direct representatives from the crown, in charge of whole provinces. Spain also created the Ecnomienda system, where a landowner had the right to control the people of a certain area. In the Spanish colonies a new social order was created where Peninsulares where the top and Africans and Indians were on the bottom. Peninusulares were people born in Europe. Creoles were next in line, people who were of European decent born in the Americas. Then there were Mestizos, people of European and Indian decent, and Molotos European African decent and then Africans and Indians. Less racism in Spanish colonies then in English, because English rarely mixed in comparison to Spanish and Portuguese colonies. Spain also started to send missionaries to the new world, creating missions, a plantation centered around a church. Became very popular in the California area. Spain eventually started to loose its dominance in the new world after it lost its Spanish Armada in a war against the English in Which leads us to the American colonies.
