11 Gulf Coast Plains Because the Gulf Coast Plain is next to the Gulf of Mexico, it has a mild climate. Climate affects include: ocean breezes, destructive storms, and rainfall

12 Gulf Coast Plains The driving economic force of the Gulf Coast Plains is cattle raising.

13 Gulf Coast Plains Rice is grown in this area and sold to more than 100 countries around the world!

14 Gulf Coast Plains Spindletop, the greatest oil field ever discovered in Texas, is in the Coastal Plains.

15 Gulf Coast Plains Houston is the largest city in this region and in Texas!

16 North Central Plains The North Central Plains are well-suited for ranching because it is covered with grass and brush instead of trees.

17 North Central Plains The Metroplex is a major manufacturing and trade center. The Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex is in the North Central Plains

18 Great Plains The cooler temperatures in the Great Plains are due largely to the region’s high elevation.
