Simile- a comparison using “like” or “as Metaphor- a comparison not using “like’ or “as” Hyperbole- an exaggeration Personification- when a thing, an idea or an animal is given human attributes Onomatopoeia- a word, which imitates the natural sounds of a thing Alliteration- repetition of consonant sounds
