1 Addus Healthcare – Prophix story
Operating since: 1979 Head office: Palatine, Illinois Annual revenue: Approximately $250 million Number of employees: 13,000 G/L or ERP: Sage MAS 200 Company website: Company background: Addus provides comprehensive health care services including skilled nursing, personal care aides, and rehabilitation. Addus HealthCare currently holds over 450 home care contracts throughout the country. The company provides health care services to over 25,000 weekly consumers from 129 offices in 19 states. Business problems that lead to evaluating CPM, adopting Prophix: Complex Excel-based financial models built by 1 employee (the only one who understood their construction). Making changes was complex, time consuming, and manual. Altering 1 component would not cascade across the budget Chose Prophix because it was inexpensive and flexible in terms of its capabilities

2 Addus Healthcare – Prophix story
Their Prophix solution: Their business has two divisions – homecare and Medicare (HomeHealth). Some branches do both Their original model had 8 cubes, which allowed them to track and analyze services and payers (patients and/or insurers) at 200 locations, as well as feed into their budgets, forecasts, and plans Finance cube General revenue cube Medicare cube Census cube - Tracking numbers of patients, their largest driver of revenue for their budgets and analysis of actuals. Also tracking payers of services for these patients (thousands of insurance companies), cross-referencing the revenues and profits for patients by payer, and outputting monthly statistics into the finance cube. Unit cube - Every patient uses services for a number of hours (i.e., 1 unit). This information is tracked on a daily basis. Addus takes this information about average daily services used (at a plan and service level) and projects this daily information out for their annual budgets (i.e., Mondays into the future). They will use the same information for their forecasts in the future. They also have to incorporate holidays. E.g., they generally use aggregated data from individual days of the week from months WITH NO holidays, but also factor these against aggregated data from individual days of the week from months WITH holidays. Lookup cube – Stores data, including salesperson commission rates for selling Medicare-specific services to insurance providers. Also stores recommended staff levels. Based on census levels (i.e., number of patients expected and/or budgeted), Addus needs to direct appropriate staff levels to a given location. Waterfall cube – Each Medicare patient has a revenue figure attached to them projected out for a certain date in the future. This cube holds their information by a spread figure of days. I.e., because a Medicare patient is expected to receive services for an average of 60 days, Addus assumes that 15 of these days will transpire during the first month (because they arrive at any given time within each month), 30 or 31 days represents a full month, and the final 14 or 15 (depending on the 30 or 31 days of the middle month). Personnel cube Future plans: Phasing out Medicare services after selling that division of their business Looking to develop dashboards and scorecards, more advanced KPI reporting More advanced forecasting, leveraging the projected information that outputs to their budgets
