Fleece Pillow Kit Mitsy Kit Instructions and Tips

2 Mitsy Kit Fleece Pillow Kit Instruction
The fleece pillow kits come in a plastic sleeve with a Velcro fastener on the top center. Undo the Velcro fastener and remove the two pieces of fleece fabric attached by small plastic clips and the small plastic bag. Unfold and place the fleece fabric pieces face up (you should see white dots surrounding the holes on each side of the fleece pillow fabric). Remove the contents from the plastic bag – you should have four pieces of ribbon and one plastic needle. There is one ribbon for each of the four sides of the pillow.  Thread the plastic needle with one strand of ribbon included with fleece pillow kit.  Knot the ribbon at the base of the eye of the plastic needle so that the ribbon will not come through the eye. The fleece pillow has two pieces of fabric attached together with plastic clips. If you are going to embellish the pillow with fabric paint or sewn / glued on appliques – do so before starting to lace together. Remove one of the plastic clips from the fleece and place on the tail end of one of the strands of ribbon, about three inches from the end. This is to prevent the tail end of the ribbon from coming out of the needle by mistake. (see picture) Feel the tactile paint around the pre-punched holes in fabric.  This helps participants to locate the holes by touch. Start lacing ribbon through one of the corner holes, putting the needle down through top side of fabric to the bottom side. There are four pieces of ribbon – one to lace up each side of the pillow.  Mitsy Kit Fleece Pillow Kit Instruction

Continue lacing the ribbon going up and down through the holes – like a running stitch. (see picture) Complete lacing ribbon for a side ending in the hole before the next corner hole.  This insures that both ribbon tails in the corners come up through the top so that a bow can be tied once lacing is complete. (see picture) Follow same steps to lace a second strand of ribbon through the second side of the pillow, starting in the corner hole going down through from top to the bottom. Once again, complete lacing the ribbon on the second side with a running stitch, ending in the hole before the next corner hole. Follow same steps to lace the third strand of ribbon through the third side of the pillow. Mitsy Kit Fleece Pillow Kit Instruction

Complete lacing the three sides of the pillow, ending in the hole before the next corner hole. Then –in the two corners where the ribbons are coming up through – make small bows with a double knot to secure. Remove any remaining plastic clips holding the fleece pieces together. Take your pillow insert that came with the kit, hold it in the center with one hand as shown in picture, and gently press in between the two fleece fabric pieces so that the corners of the insert are pushed into the corners of the fleece pillow case. If the pillow stuffing does not look evenly distributed use your hand to massage the pillow filler until it looks uniform. Once pillow insert is tucked inside, pull together the upper and lower sides of the fourth side of the pillow to align holes. Follow same steps to complete lacing the fourth side of the pillow with remaining ribbon – this will be a little more difficult due to the pillow insert – you may need to push the insert in a bit to make room for lacing. Once lacing is completed – in the two corners where the ribbons are coming up through – make small bows with a double knot to secure. Mitsy Kit Fleece Pillow Kit Instruction

Tidy up the bows by making them each about the same size, and then cut off any excess tails on the ribbon. This completes your fleece pillow project – now if you want to share we would love to see a picture of you with your completed pillow. Please feel free to upload to our Facebook page or Website! Tips: How to prevent skipped holes in the fabric: Use sense of touch to feel the tactile paint around the hole on topside of fabric.  Once the needle is laced through, run finger along the fabric to feel for the tactile paint of the next hole.  Always run fingers along the fabric to make sure you are not skipping holes. Although the tactile paint is only on the topside of the fabric, you should also be able to guage where the hole is on the bottom by feeling both top and bottom sides of fabric sandwiched between two fingers. Tips: What if the pillow form does not look right once inserted into the pillow? The pillow form may sometimes need the filling to be shifted so that the pillow looks square and full to corners.  Shift the filling from the middle of the pillow form to the outer corners by massaging by hand until it appears fully square.
