1 Ice Boiling Stem Activity for Students/Teachers

2 Activity Subject: Heat
Aim of the experiment is to examine the relationship between pressure and boiling point.

3 Experiment / Activity Materials:
Erlen Rubber Tippers Ice Water Match Heater

4 Experiment / Activity Security:
Open Flame Alert Cloth Glove Heat Safety

5 Experimental Procedure:
The water is boiled in erlenmeyer. Erlenmeyer plug is turned off and inverted. Place a bag full of ice on the bottom of the erlenmeyer flask. Change is observed in the water. (Boiling)*

6 Conclusion The boiling point is the temperature at which liquid vapor is equal to the pressure of the atmosphere. After the water is boiled, it becomes condensed when the mouth is closed with the stopper. When inverted, the gas particles that cool down become condensed and become liquid, which causes the pressure drop to act on the liquid surface. The water boils again. When we turn the ice bag upside down and put it in the tank, the pressure on the hot water will start to re-boil even if it is at low temperature. Because; Vapor pressure = external pressure ..
