1 ABIDE

2 1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener
1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.

3 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you
4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

4 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

5 9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you
9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

7 “How we manage God’s money is a central biblical subject of extreme importance. The sheer enormity of the Bible’s teaching on this subject screams for our attention. Why did Jesus say more about how we are to view and handle money and possessions than about any other topic—including both Heaven and Hell, and prayer and faith? Because God wants us to recognize the powerful relationship between our true spiritual condition and our attitude and actions concerning money and possessions.” Randy Alcorn

8 Matthew 13:22 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. Hebrews 13:5 5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have 1 Timothy 6:10 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

9 You want to honour God with your wealth (Prov. 3:9-10)
You want to remain in Jesus and have depth and fruitfulness. Financial discipleship in a big part of this! (Matthew 6:24) You want to structure our finances so that you grow in financial wisdom, and experience God-given peace and contentment in this area. You want to stop piercing yourself with many griefs (1 Timothy 6:10).

10 How to abide in Christ through our wealth and riches?

11 Start where you are and progress with little, faithful steps.
