2 Four Main Objectives Expand developing countries’ knowledge and capacity to design and implement effective policies against poverty. Provide advice and technical assistance through UNDP’s country offices. Facilitate knowledge sharing through South-South cooperation. Promote global debates on poverty issues.

Pro-poor Growth and Policies. Vulnerable groups and safety net. Employment and Poverty Nexus. Millennium Development Goals. Gender Research Programme on economic autonomy of women and time use.

4 Examples of Technical Assistance
Botswana’s national poverty report, which will be the basis for Botswana government’s poverty reduction strategy. Thailand has adopted the new poverty line developed by IPC. Poverty assessment report for Jordan in collaboration with the World Bank. New poverty line for Colombia (currently being undertaken) MDG costing for Pakistan (to be carried out in October 2005).
