ORGANISMS An organism is a living thing.
Plants and animals are organisms. All organisms has cells.

Plant Cells Cells are the building blocks of life.
Plant cells have nucleus, chloroplast, cell membrane, cell wall, and cytoplasm.

Plant parts The parts of the plant are the leaves, stem, roots.

Roots The roots help hold the plant in the ground.
They are the plant part that grows underground. They take in water and minerals from the soil.

Stem The stem carries food from the leaves to the other parts.
The stem helps the plant stand upright.

Leaves The leaves take in sunlight.
The leaves have chlorophyll and it traps energy from the sunlight. It uses gas from the air called carbon dioxide.

Life Cycle of a Flowering Plant
A seed might become a plant A new plant grows The plant is an adult The plant grows flowers. Insects collect pollen to eggs Flowers become fruits with seeds

The life Cycle of a conifer
Ripe seeds from a large cone germinate in the soil A new pine tree grows It makes two kinds of cones Pollen from the small cone falls on the larger cone This larger cone grows with seeds inside. Ripe seeds fall to the ground
