3 How Will the Data be Used?
How will the state use this data? How can school districts use the statewide data? Disaggregated reports will be made available at the state, county, district and school levels through DataQuest The new accountability system, the California School Dashboard, includes Chronic Absenteeism as a performance indicator The federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires states to report chronic absenteeism data The statewide collection is not intended to be an early warning system Districts should use the daily attendance data collected to identify and address emerging attendance issues The data can be used to identify schools/districts that may require assistance in addressing attendance problems School districts are required to set goals and develop specific actions within the Local Control and Accountability Plan California Department of Education
