3. Student Behaviors/Expectations
Come in Quietly
Write down the homework in your agenda, and start the “Do Now” assignment.
Place core card on top of desk
This is a good time to sharpen your pencils.
Be Prepared
Have your materials with you.
Mrs. Sanders barely affords the supplies she has for her own use. I have pencils you may borrow but they MUST be returned at the end of class. Once there gone there gone! Be Positive and Polite
Speak in a normal tone of voice, and listen attentively. You would want others to do the same for you!
Participate
Turn in work on time, and ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST!

4. Show Respect
Value yourself. Be honest and ethical, and practice strong moral values.
Treat all members of the school community and all visitors with politeness and respect.
Honor the ideas and opinions of others.
Offer to help.
Be responsible with property and belongings.
Keep all of yourself to yourself at all times. This is our school’s “Hands Off” policy.

5. You must pay all other school fees before you are issued a locker.
Why do you need a locker?
People – including your classmates – are easily tempted by new and shiny things.
People – including your classmates – are easily tempted by food and drink that they might want to try.
Backpacks need to be stored somewhere, since they are not allowed at your desk, and will not be allowed to carry from class to class.
You need a legitimate reason to go outside of the classroom before and after school, not so that you can see and be seen by your school mates.
Mrs. Sanders cannot be responsible when one of your valuable possessions – such as a sharpie or mechanical pencil – is stolen or “lost”.

6. Lunch is best kept in “witness protection,” i.e. your locker.

9. What do you do when you come into class?
What will Mrs. Field will do?
You are to come in quietly.
Get all materials out and ready to go.
Write down homework in your agenda, and start the “Do Now” assignment.
Get HW out for me to check.
Complete the DO NOW first thing.
Mrs. Field will check and initial your agenda after it is filled in.
Mrs. Field will check that you have completed your homework. Sometimes it will be collected to be graded.

10. Responsibility for Coursework
Bring binder (with agenda and supplies) to class.
Know due dates, and submit all coursework on time.
All assignments are posted on the board and on my JCMS school web site
Handouts missed due to absence are available in the make up folder in the back of the room.

11. Grading Policy Grades are based on the following: 25% tests
20% quizzes
20% labs/projects
20% classwork ( includes notebook check)
15% homework
Late work is NOT accepted after 5 days.
Each day late drops the score of the assignment a letter grade.
For some assignments, like homework, late work is not accepted at all.
The minimum grade given on an assignment is a 50.

17. Mrs.Sanders Response to Dress Code Violations
What I will do: If I believe any part of your outfit violates the Onslow County Public Schools’ dress code, I will send you to the office. My ultimate goal is for you NOT to get in trouble later on in the day. What I will not do: I will not let you call your parents to bring you a change of clothes. I will not look the other way, and I will not argue with you about your clothes.

19. Remember ….
Mrs. Sanders follows the rules of the school. I have a job to do, and part of that job involves making sure you follow the rules of the school. If I do not do my job, then I do not get paid. I like to EAT and LIVE INDOORS, so I will do my job. When you get in trouble, I get in trouble. My goal is to make sure that none of us get in trouble and that we have a happy school day.
