2 November 19, 2018 TEDF Overview The Teaching Excellence Development Fund (TEDF) has been developed to support innovative projects and capacity building approaches that foster excellence and scholarship in teaching, learning &assessment. The scheme accommodates new Academic roles and is aligned with Curtin’s Teaching, Learning and Student Experience Plan 2013 – 2017. TEDF – Information Session

3 November 19, 2018 TEDF Principles Principle 1: Projects/Activities funded by the TEDF will align with Curtin’s Strategic Plan and key institutional strategic teaching and learning projects. Principle 2: The TEDF will be inclusive and equitable for all Curtin teaching staff. Principle 3: The TEDF application process and reporting requirements will be manageable for claimants and those processing applications. Principle 4: The TEDF will be subject to annual evaluation and review to ensure the scheme remains fit-for-purpose. TEDF – Information Session

4 Funding arrangements $360,000 available in 2015
November 19, 2018 Funding arrangements $360,000 available in 2015 Maximum of $20,000 per project Funding will be committed in April 2015 for all successful proposals. Distribute allocated funds to Project cost centres located in Schools and Faculty’s, and responsibility lies with each project lead to manage all administrative and financial transactions. All purchases and expenses will be paid out of the individual cost centre when appropriate purchase orders and invoices have been provided. All transactions should carry the TEDF prefix on any statement. TEDF – Information Session

7 November 19, 2018 TEDF Opportunities Examples of TEDF funding opportunities include but not limited to: Assessment - including developing new assessment literacy practices, enhancing student engagement through assessment, fostering scaffolding approaches to assessment across a course, improving peer and self assessment practices, and aligning assessment for work integrated learning initiatives; Curriculum enhancement - including new instructional design and web-based developments, improving accreditation outcomes, approaches to benchmarking and employability outcomes, and enhancing English Language proficiency; Development of quality teaching resources - including teaching exemplars, instructional strategies for students, in-class response strategies, and technology for enhanced teaching practices; Innovation projects - including student personalisation, interactive teaching games, visualisation and dashboards, benchmarking tools, and engaging mobile device applications; Scholarship of Teaching & Learning - including developing innovative strategies for evaluation of teaching, developing strategies for the integration of scholarship, research and professional activities with teaching, dissemination of professional learning practice, and dissemination of scholarship activities within the community; Professional Development - activities including staff training, discipline and teaching area support, peer mentoring, cultural and interdiscipline development, and community of practice education;

9 November 19, 2018 Review Panel The operation of the scheme is overseen by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education). Selection panels for proposals will consist of a minimum of five members drawn from the following areas: Faculty Deans Teaching & Learning Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor Teaching & Learning Student Guild representative Curtin Teaching and Learning Directors TEDF coordinator from Curtin Teaching and Learning TEDF – Information Session

The underpinning rationale or conceptual basis of the proposal is unclear. The rationale for the project is explained. The conceptual framework for the proposal is clear.
