1 Interactions in the Ecosystem- Review for CUA

2 What organisms do you see in this picture?
What is the bee doing on the flower? It sips nectar of the flower. How does a bee contribute to the well-being of the guava plant? They transfer the pollen grains from one flower to the stigma of another flower. What can you say about their interaction? Both bees and flower benefit from each other.

3 What are the possible beneficial effect/s may this interaction give?
Nectar of flowers obtained by the bees feeds other baby bees in the colony. Pollen grains of flowers that were transferred to another flowers help in fertilization and in producing fruits of the guava tree. Their interaction helps humans because of the honey being produced by the bees and the fruit which is produced by the guava trees are both useful and beneficial to human.

4 What is the interaction shown in these organisms?
Mutualism What is the role of each organism in this interaction?

5 What are the organisms involved in this interaction?
What is the fern doing on the branch of a tree? It lives on it. Which organism provides home for the fern? The tree What benefit does a tree get from a fern? None What can you say about their interaction? The tree provides home for the ferns. The fern does not give any thing to the tree. Ferns beautify the garden

6 What is this type of interaction?
Commensalism

7 What are the organisms in the picture?
What does the frog eat? Dragonfly Which one is benefitted? Frog Which is harmed?

8 What may happen due to this kind of interaction?
Frogs control the population of the insects. What may happen to the insects if the population of frogs increases? The population of insects will decrease. What may happen to the frogs if the insects decrease in number? There will be shortage of food for the frog.

9 If there will be shortage of food for the frogs, what will happen to the ecosystem?
The increase and decrease in the number of frogs and insect in the ecosystem eventually create balance in the number of population.

10 What is this type of interaction?
Mosquito biting a human skin Parasitism Does a man benefit from this kind of interaction? No What may happen to the man after a mosquito bite? The man will be badly affected by the itch that the mosquito bites bring. Mosquito may also carry diseases that may be transferred from one person to another.

11 What are the living things in this picture?
Plants What type of interaction do these plants have? Competition What do they compete for? They compete for water and minerals from the soil.

12 How are plants affected?
These plants do not grow well.
