The National Council on Aging & The Chinese Community Center Aging in Texas Conference 2018 Vivian will introduce session and welcome attendees--- then Jane and Maggie will introduce themselves, who they are, and their (current and or previous role) with the CCC, then Vivian will continue with NCOA’s mission

7 About the Chinese Community Center
Who We Are: The Chinese Community Center is a multi-ethnic organization serving all Houstonians. Our Mission: Our mission is to bridge East and West by enriching families with educational, cultural, and social service programs. We serve diverse cultures, diverse generations and diverse needs. Our staff speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese & Spanish. (Jane and/Maggie)

8 Benefits of being a Benefits Enrollment Center
Funding Professional Development/Learning Experts Network of Peers Tools Technical Assistance Advocacy Funding - something super important to CBOs to support work; currently at CCC we are able to partly fund 3 different positions in our BEC: Program Director, Program Manager, Program Coordinator/case worker Professional Development – access to subject matter experts at NCOA, annual conference, bimonthly conference calls - peers: learning from what other BECs are doing, how they are handling barriers, etc ex: speaking with BEC in Ohio about how they are addressing fears around public charge. Tools – Technical Assistance - quarterly call with NCOA staff to get support on anything BEC may need, connecting with resources, etc Advocacy – tools and support to properly educate and influence policy affecting benefits
