The main topics discussed at the Webinar were: The size of the board, and the potential for this to restrict the ability to have full regional representation. The overall diversity of the board and the senior leaders at CPA Australia was also discussed. The future strategy and plan to review CPA Australia Advice was discussed, particularly in relation to the professional services scheme. The individual Directors on the CPA Australia Advice board and their experience was outlined. The current level of marketing expenditure and how it has changed over the last year. The approach to marketing, including the costs and benefits of television advertising, and options for more direct marketing, were discussed. Membership fees in Australia and the United Kingdom, and a comparison with similar member-based organisations. There was discussion on fees for associate members, and if high fees discourage membership for those early in their careers. Feedback from the member survey, areas where CPA Australia did not perform well, and how this will be addressed Future partnerships with other professional bodies, such as the Australian Institute of Company Directors in Australia and Institute of Directors in the United Kingdom, in order to provide members with a pathway to board positions and future careers. Global focus of CPA Australia’s strategy, and the commitment to being a global organisation. This included the importance of members in Europe, and the services available for European members that reside outside the United Kingdom. Ensuring the quality of the graduates from the CPA Program, in order to maintain the good name of the organisation The processes that Branch and Divisional Councils could follow to ensure that they effectively share best practice and new ideas  A review of the content strategy for INTHEBLACK, given its value to communicate and engage with members, but also a lack of reporting on the governance issues of 2017 Transparency of voting results for Divisional Council, and the potential to publish the outcomes of the elections The recent improvements in communication between the board and members, and the need for this to be an ongoing process rather than a once-off event The cost and value of CPD, options for digital delivery of CDP, and consideration to continual delivery of free CDP. This will increase the value of membership.
