4 Decolonization Mohandas Gandhi was a leader of peaceful resistance against British colonization Great Salt March Gave up his luxurious life to live as a member of the lowest part of society Gained independence in August of 1947

Once India was free of colonial power there were struggles over how the nation should be ruled Debate over if it should be an Islamic nation or have religious freedoms India wanted to keep Hinduism Pakistan and Bangladesh became Islamic nations
