2. The Scenario Your group has been exiled for political reasons
The Scenario Your group has been exiled for political reasons. There is 1000 people in your group. Your team was selected to be the leader(s) so you must decide who will be the president or prime minister. Your group contains food for 1 year, weapons (guns with ammunition), and tools to build housing.

3. The Scenario (continued) Your group will create a new government using one of the assigned government (i.e., presidential, dictatorship, unitary) for the new island. The new government must resemble the characteristics in the textbook (see pages 12-16).

Measurements: 70 miles (112 km) long and 7 miles (11 km) wide and having an area of 463 square miles

6. Features of the new land: It is a tropical island (average temperature 80°F) with rivers, lakes (for drinking water). It has many sources of food (fruit trees and plants), fish, animals, and land for agriculture.

Write a Group Essay (400 words essay) – Each person in the group will be responsible for their share of the essay (See Essay Procedure) It should have an introduction, body, and conclusion. Step 5. Share Out – The group will share their group work with the class. (See Share-Out Procedure)

10. Essay Procedure The essay will be used to answer the five (5) questions. The essay will describe how the group will govern the island under their assigned system of government (i.e., Democracy, dictatorship, parliamentary).

Introduction (Peter Smith – 100 words) The shared philosophical strategy that combines bilingual education program which promotes the development of two languages and English as a Second Language programs could have some similarities in terms of teaching strategies. Both focus on teaching language to students. Special education is different and some of the teaching strategies are different from teaching strategies in language. There are many levels in special education so it requires the gamut of teaching strategies to accommodate the students’ learning disabilities. Funding could be a greatest advantage in combining special education with bilingual education and English as a second language program. Special education gets a greater amount of funding than bilingual education and ESL. The pedagogical ideals and teaching strategies that are used in all three programs could benefit the students. They are meaningful teaching strategies that promote cognitive development through practical and easy to understand teaching strategies. The English Language Learner and Special Education departments can collaborate with each other through Professional Learning Community learning environments.

15. “Share-Out” Procedure Each group will “share-out” their group work with the class. Group members are expected to talk about their part of the group work. Groups are expected to also use the white board to draw and illustrate their graphic organizer (if time permits). It will be used to provide a visual effect of their group work.
