Haveli School – Tasing, Rajasthan, India Global Ambassador, Karishma Popli high school student of Thomas Jefferson High in Virginia took lights with money from her winning essay on “What are the Social Responsibilities of Educated People?” “ It was an incredible, life-changing experience visiting the village school to distribute the solar lamps. I became more socially aware of the problems in our society, and the little things I can do to help. As a fourth generation American of Indian descent, I was able to learn more about my culture and heritage while researching and experiencing this trip”. 11/18/2018

11 Sierra Fan – Gunn High School, Palo Alto
Global Ambassador, Sierra Fan with four of her friends took 250 lights to Barangay Dugui Too Catanduanes in 2010. “Even being an outsider, sharing with them not the language nor the customs, though I do share some of the looks, there is a human bond of understanding even when literal communication does not come through.  Here, I am truly content and I feel so privileged to have been able to make this paradise just a bit more perfect. 11/18/2018
