Europe is known as the peninsula of peninsulas! Peninsula: body of land surrounded by water on three sides

World renown for skiing & other winter sports Mount Blanc is the highest peak in the Alps

5 Rhine Begins in the Swiss Alps and runs north through Germany and empties into the North Sea. Most economically valuable river in Western Europe

6 Danube Begins in Southern Germany’s Black forest, flows east and empties into the Black Sea Europe’s second longest river.

7 Thames Thames – (pronounced Timz) – runs east through southern England, through the heart of London, and empties into the North Sea

8 Rhone The Rhone begins in the Swiss Alps, runs through southern France and empties in the Mediterranean Sea.

9 Volga River Runs through western Russia.
Runs south and empties into the Caspian Sea. Longest river in Europe.

10 Mediterranean Sea Mediterranean waters are vital to the economies of 20 European countries, supporting tourism and other industries

11 North Sea The North Sea is North of mainland Europe, east of Great Britain, and west of Scandinavia.

Made up of Norway, Sweden and most of northern Finland

13 Fjords Norway is made up of thousands of fjords.
A Fjord is a long, narrow arm of the sea bordered by steep cliffs: usually formed by glacial erosion.

14 Iberian Peninsula Made up of Spain and Portugal.
Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Mediterranean Sea to the south.
