Class Prerequisites / Webinar Structure
The typical student has had exposure to other window applications such as Microsoft Word No Excel experience is required This is a demo “show me” style with an independent lab to reinforce concepts Pause the recording to practice specific items on your own!

What is Excel used for? When is Excel NOT the right application?
Storing data Number crunching: sums / counts / averages etc. Filtering, subtotaling, charting data Merging with Word (ie mail labels) When is Excel NOT the right application? Large amounts of text (paragraphs) / correspondence Presentations (ie this presentation) More data than what will fit on a spreadsheet (Version 2007 has over a million rows but most spreadsheets don’t work well with that much data!

Keyboard shortcuts Control Home: Beginning of spreadsheet
Control End: End of data in spreadsheet F4 key: cycle through absolute references - $ End key / Arrow combination: quickly move to bottom, left, right or top of selected data area (ie if cursor is sitting at the top of a data column, pressing END, ARROW DOWN will move to the last row of data in the column Control N for a new workbook Control Z to undo the last action Alt = to place a SUM function in a cell (usually adding cells above it)
