3. Heard Any “Good News” Lately?
When was the last time you heard some “good news”?
We all like to hear good news don’t we? We need more good news!
The “gospel” is good news! We use this word “gospel” a lot, but do we know what it means?

4. Heard Any “Good News” Lately?
To “preach” (Gr. euangelizo) means to “proclaim good news or glad tidings”
“Gospel” (Gr. euangelion) means “good news” or “good tidings”
The “evangelist” (Gr. euangelistees) proclaims “good news” (Acts 21:8; Eph. 4:11; 2 Tim. 4:5)

5. What’s So Good About It? It is a “good” gift from heaven (Jas. 1:17)
Our English word “gospel” was originally from the Anglo-Saxon “God-spell,” meaning “God’s story”.
It is the “gospel of God” (Rom.1:1; 15:16; 2 Cor.11:7; 1 Thess.2:8-9).

6. What’s So Good About It? It is a “good” gift from heaven (Jas. 1:17)
It is the “gospel of Christ” (Rom. 1:9; 15:19; 2 Cor.2:12; 9:13; 10:14; Gal.1:6- 7,11-12; Phil.1:27; 1 Thess.3:2; Thess.1:8).

7. What’s So Good About It? It is a “good” gift from heaven (Jas. 1:17)
It is the gospel that was preached “by the Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven” (1 Pet.1:12).
God designed the gospel, and He will not give us anything that is not good for us.

8. What’s So Good About It? It is “good” news about salvation Eph. 1:13)
Good news about Jesus (Ac.5:42; 8:35; 11:20; 17:18; Gal.1:16,23; Eph.3:8).
Good news about the kingdom of God (Ac.8:12).

9. What’s So Good About It? It is “good” news about salvation Eph. 1:13)
Good news about God’s promises (Ac.13:32; cf. Gal.3:8).
Good news about God’s grace (Ac.20:24).

10. What’s So Good About It? It is “good” news about salvation Eph. 1:13)
Good news about the d-b-r-a of Christ (1 Cor.15:1-5; 2 Tim.2:8).
Good news about the glory of Christ (2 Cor.4:3-6; 2 Thess.2:14; 1 Tim.1:11).

11. What’s So Good About It? It is “good” news about salvation Eph. 1:13)
Good news about the truth (Gal.2:5; Col.1:5).
Good news about unity (Eph.3:6).

12. What’s So Good About It? It is “good” news about salvation (Eph. 1:13)
Good news about peace (Eph.2:17; 6:15; cf. Ac.10:36).
Good news about spiritual life and immortality (2 Tim.1:10).

13. What’s So Good About It? It puts us in “good” standing with God
We are begotten or born again through the gospel (1 Cor.4:15).
There are facts to be believed (1 Cor.15:1-5), commands to be obeyed (2 Thess.1:8; 1 Pet.4:17) and promises to be accepted (Col.1:23).

14. What’s So Good About It? It makes us a “good” person around others
It provides a way to walk uprightly (Gal. 2:14).
It offers a manner of life that is worthy (Phil. 1:27).

15. Want Some “Good News”?
Will you repent, believe, and obey the gospel (Ac.14:15; 15:7; Rom. 10:16)?
Will you live a daily life of sacrifice for the gospel (Mk. 8:34-35; 10:29)?
Will you not be ashamed of the gospel (Rom. 1:16)?
