2 Background Kenya has been picked to host the 2008 Union of Producers, Transporters and Distributors of Electric Power in Africa (UPDEA) Congress Dates set for June 24 – 27, 2008 This is a major event in UPDEA calendar and milestones The Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, has been picked as the most appropriate venue for this conference The congress is expected to attract 300 delegates & 50 exhibitors Saturday, November 17, 2018

UPDEA official visited Nairobi early July and held discussions with local committee The congress organizing committee has secured booking of the congress venue ‘Call for Papers’ brochure ready, website version already posted on the Internet Other publicity/information materials including an Exhibitors Brochure being prepared and will be sent to Secretariat, Member utilities and others Saturday, November 17, 2018

16 Update on preparations so far…
The organizing committee is already in place and is being chaired by the KenGen Deputy Managing Director Negotiating for best rates and bookings for hotels going on. Planning for other logistics – conferencing, transport, catering, etc also going on Advertising the conference globally has already been rolled out. Saturday, November 17, 2018
