Year One

2 Changes to General Routines
Registration is at 9am. Daily Mile is before Collective Worship Books changed on a Tuesday

3 Homework Reading books are changed on a Tuesday.
Read, Write, Inc spellings are handed out on Fridays and tested the following Friday. ‘Letter of the Week’ handwriting sheet is handed out on a Friday (this is not a homework requirement).

4 Dinosaurs Geography –Looking at where dinosaur bones/fossils have been found around the world. Science – Plants – identifying common house and wild plants. Naming the basic features of plants. Maths – Measure, then moving on to multiplication and division. English – Information texts (specifically leaflets). Art and DT – Printing patterns.

5 Year 1 Phonics Screening
A mixture of real and alien words. Phonics game (children don’t know their being checked). Children to sound out and blend – they don’t need to identify alien words. Week commencing Monday 11th June. chape proift thawf

6 Writing/Reading Writing Adding ‘s’ or ‘es’ for plural. Reading
Using ‘ing’, ‘ed’, ‘er’ and ‘est’ (no change to root word) e.g. quickest. Begin to form letters correctly. Compose sentences orally and read back through their work. Finger spaces Joining words Capital letters, full stops, question marks and exclamation marks. Reading Apply phonics to decode. Build familiarity with key stories and consider particular characteristics. Recognise and join in with predictable phrases. Discussing word meanings. Self correcting (checking the text makes sense). Make inferences based on what is said/done. Predicting. Explain clearly their understanding of what has been read.

7 Maths Count in multiples of 2, 5 and 10 from any given number.
Count to and across 100, forwards and backwards, from any given number Describe position, direction and movement, including whole, half, quarter and three-quarter turns. Tell the time to the hour and half past the hour. Count read and write numbers to 100 in digits (words up to 20). Identify one more/one less. Weight and length (begin to record)
