Choose 2 parts of the microscope and write down their function What would the total magnification be if the eyepiece was x10 and the objective lens is x45?

10 Draw what you see in your books
Instructions Work in Pairs- one person from each pair collect a microscope Make sure the microscope has its lowest powered objective lens Look through the eyepiece until you see a white circle Place your slide on the stage and secure it in place Twist the focus dials until the image becomes clear Move up through the objective lenses to the highest powered one Draw what you see in your books

11 Extension work Complete page 7 in your cells alive booklet which asks you to work out the TOTAL MAGNIFICATION

12 Your leaflet should include:
Individual task Using the paper provided make a DETAILED information leaflet Your leaflet should include: 1) WHY we need to use microscopes and what we use them for 2) HOW to use a microscope (a detailed description that anyone could easily follow) 3) WHAT you see when you look down a microscope (use lots of describing words to explain what it looks like when you use a microscope) 4) Use DIAGRAMS and COLOUR to make it eye-catching
