The Accreditation Review Council (ARC) is a state-level group of education professionals charged with recommending accreditation status and changes in status to the Kansas State Board of Education. 15 members, 3 year term, limit to two consecutive terms, rolling memberships

Award recognizes the hard work and selfless service of high school students across the state. Nominated students must volunteer at a nonprofit, community organization, faith-based organization, business, school or national service program.

17 Pilot programs for Elementary Education and High Incidence Special Education
What: A State Board of Education approved two-year statewide pilot of alternative pathways for elementary education and high incidence special education. Based on recommendations from the Teacher Vacancy and Supply Committee. For: District chosen qualified individual based on district needs

18 State Board approval of Pilot (1/2018)
TVSC Recommendation: two-year statewide pilot of alternative pathways for both elementary education and high incidence special education. Limited Apprentice License issued as participants meet eligibility requirements - may then be assigned as the teacher. Complete an approved program within two years - extension based on extenuating circumstances allowed. Statewide pilot reviewed and evaluated after two years.

19 Elementary Degree District identifies candidate
Verify enrollment in an approved elementary program Fall Semester (or 1st semester of program) - Complete a Field Experience while enrolled in coursework Spring Semester (or 2nd Semester of program/hire) – Issued a Limited Apprentice License Must complete entire program within two years

20 Special Education Degree
District identifies candidate - at least one year as a special education paraprofessional Verify enrollment in an approved program for High Incidence SPED Fall Semester or 1st semester of program) – continue as SPED para and complete 6-9 credit hours Spring Semester (or 2nd Semester of program/hire) – Issued a Limited Apprentice License Complete entire program within two years

21 Applications posted to TLA website
Qualified individual enters program – joint application submitted. Certificate of Eligibility issued. 1st semester requirements completed. Limited Apprentice License issued after 1st semester requirements met. Individual assigned as the teacher. Approved program completed within two years – extension based on extenuating circumstances possible.

22 Limited Apprentice License for Elementary allows placement in an elementary classroom, K-6 assignment. Limited Apprentice License for High Incidence Special Education allows placement in a supportive SPED assignment at the level of the HI program being completed. Limited TAP License: contact Wichita State University regarding the Teacher Apprentice Program (TAP) innovative elementary/early childhood unified program. WSU will provide requirements and forms. The Limited TAP License allows placement in a general education assignment B-6 or a special education assignment at the B-grade 3 level.

Purpose To explore micro-credentialing as a pathway for redesigning both professional learning and teacher re-licensure Micro-credential: A personalized professional unit of study in which a specific competency is earned and/or recognized through a tangible credential
