2. Warm up
The Nile deposited a rich layer of silt to help the soil every year, which made farming easy. This led to job specialization, cities, and culture.
The Pharaoh was seen as a god/man and he had absolute power. Since the people wanted to please the gods, the Pharaoh was able to get people to build the pyramids, or whatever else he wanted them to do.

3. Where was it??
It was located in the Indus Valley (seriously!) in what is now modern day Pakistan.

4. Two Main Cities
The two main cities were Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro.

5. What was going on in those cities??
Archeologists have found many artifacts that contain symbols, so we know they had some form of writing.

6. What else…!?
The cities were built on platforms and high ground to protect themselves against flooding.
Street were laid out in neat patterns, and buildings were made out of brick.
Each house had a bathing area with water coming from nearby wells.

7. Religion/Play Time
There is evidence of Religion, with archeologists finding figurines of goddesses.
They also found toys and games! Cool!

8. What was NOT going on?
So the Indus people seem to have lived differently than their counterparts in Egypt and Mesopotamia.
There is no evidence or armies or violence.
They did not build huge tombs for their dead rulers.

9. Ok, we are headed to the auditorium.
Hallway etiquette
Stay to the right half of the hallway.
Whisper voices (we walk by some classrooms.
When you are in the auditorium you need to be quiet and respectful. Listen to the presentation.
This will NOT take the rest of the period. We will be back in time to finish up what we need to do.
