2 Convey: The Goal For individuals
To provide individuals with a web-based repository to enter and maintain records of financial interests and allow them to disclose directly to any organization. For Organizations To build a streamlined, standardized system that sets and adopts national standards but allows organizations to tailor the disclosure process to get the information they need Other stakeholder input opportunities: IOM Working group and Implementation group ( ) MedBiquitous Working group Pilot Partners FOCI Steering Committee and broader membership AAMC Member Institutions ICMJe representatives and other journals ACCME and other CME providers FDA, CMS, NIH representatives (Important: make sure to mention that we’ve been engaged with the FDA since the original IOM group, working towards the goal of using Convey as a way of disclosing financial interests to government agencies, not just to organizations in accordance with agency regulations. Rob Califf will likely mention this in his talk at 2:30, so good to set it up for him.)

3 A Brief History of Convey
Institute of Medicine Report: Conflict of Interest in Medical Research, Education, and Practice pulished and convened a Working group 2012 Discussion Paper and JAMA Editorial IOM Implementation Committee Recommendation 2013 2014 AAMC Review and MedBiquitous Working Group AAMC engaged Medbiquitous to convene a financial interest working group and develop requirements and XML data specifications for financial interest and disclosure data. June 2014 Medbiquitous convened a group consisting of 10 members and 23 industry experts representing COI management systems, journals, peer review systems, academic medical centers, etc. Project charter created. July 2014 March 2016 Financial Interest schema and specifications published Recommendation 3.3 National organizations that represent academic medical centers, other health care providers, and physicians and researchers should convene a broad-based consensus development process to establish standard content, a standard format, and standard procedures for the disclosure of financial relationships with industry. 2015 AAMC Builds Convey 2016 Convey Launched in October
