WARM UP Using the picture below identify 2 of each of the following: Point Plane Ray Line Angle Line Segment

3 HOMEWORK

4 Quiz time…yippeee! You’ll do GREAT!!

5 Classifying Angles Right Angle: an angle measuring 90
Symbol used to indicate a right angle: Acute Angle: an angle measuring less than 90 Obtuse Angle: an angle measuring more than 90 Straight Angle: an angle measuring exactly 180 Yes, that means it’s a straight line

6 Classify the following angles as right, acute, obtuse, or straight.

7 Worksheet on Measuring Angles

12 Once you are finished measuring…
Get a colored pencil out of your table’s bucket (not yellow, black, white, or gray) Write the word “Classification” at the top of the paper in your colored pencil Go through the entire worksheet (front and back) and classify each angle as acute, right, obtuse, or straight.

13 Parallel vs. Perpendicular
Parallel Lines: 2 lines that never intersect How to show two lines are parallel: Perpendicular Lines: 2 lines that intersect at 90 angle How to show two lines are perpendicular:

14 Complementary vs. Supplementary
Complementary Angles: two angle measures that add up to 90 Supplementary Angles: two angle measures that add up to 180 Linear Pair: two supplementary angles that are sitting back to back.

15 Parallel Lines cut by a Transversal
What is a Transversal? A line that crosses a pair of parallel lines On your paper, trace both side of your ruler. Using your ruler, draw in a transversal. Measure each of the angles that have been created and record them near each vertex. **If you’re noticing a pattern, then you’re doing it right!!  97

16 Special Angle Pairs

17 Special Angle Pairs Congruent? Supp? Examples 4 and 5
Alternate Interior Angles 4 and 5 Alternate Exterior Angles 3 and 6 Corresponding Angles 2 and 6 Consecutive Angles 3 and 7 Vertical Angles 5 and 8
