2 How does Student Finance work?
Means tested grant Entitlement is based on gross household income from the previous tax year All household income is taken into consideration, even if it is non taxable

3 The application process
If your course starts between 1st September 2018 and 31st August 2019 you can apply anytime between 1st January and 31st December 2018 You apply by completing the HE1 online form, you only need to do this once and not each year When you apply you will be asked for a CV if you have been out of school for a year or more An Income Statement form (HE2) will be sent out to the parents/student to complete with details of income which needs to be sent back to Student Finance

4 The application process continued
A copy of the Notice of Assessment and associated calculations will also need to be sent to Student Finance. This means that your tax returns need to be submitted as soon as possible to avoid delays When you have your A 'Level/IB/Level 3 results and your unconditional offer letter you can then complete the HE7 online form which will be sent to the student after the initial application (HE1) form You will need to provide copies of your unconditional offer letter and results to Student Finance As soon as we have everything we can let you know what grant will be paid, but the official paperwork is not sent out until mid-August At the end of the academic year we will require official confirmation that the student has passed that year and can go on to the next year. We do contact the institutes about this but on occasions we will require the student to provide this

5 Tuition Fees – The Facts
Fees for 2018/19 will be £9,250 for most UK Universities Q. What if my university's fees are over £9,250? A. Student Finance will only pay more than this if the course is Medicine, Veterinary or Dentistry for clinical years only. Jersey students are generally classed as home students for an Undergraduate degree, however….. Imperial & Cambridge charge international fees Students who do not go through our application process risk being charged 'overseas' rates

6 Studying Abroad The entitlement towards fees and maintenance is the same as for a UK University The course must be the academic equivalent to a UK degree - and there are some degrees we do not fund i.e. Architecture in USA Parents to pay fees upfront and Student Finance will reimburse entitlement once the student has provided confirmation of enrolment and payment
