What is the difference between rational and irrational numbers?

In this lesson you will be able to state the definitions of rational and irrational numbers and apply the definition to recognize rational and irrational numbers.

3 Review A rational number is any number that can be expressed in the form a/b where a and b are both integers and b is not zero. Includes: +/- whole numbers, including zero (integers) All fractions and mixed numbers Any decimal that terminates or repeats

4 Irrational Numbers An irrational number is any number which cannot be expressed as a fraction a/b where a and b are both integers and b is not zero. - Includes decimals that never terminate and repeat
