8 Close discharge valve to the building circuit This may cause a trouble alert on the fire panel but it will silence once the valve is fully shut

10 Turn off JOCKEY PUMP

12 Drain water until pressure drop engages pump and record pressure reading when pump starts

14 Check pump packing glands to verify there is a slight discharge of water (front and rear) If no water, or too much water is discharging, notify your supervisor / foreman

16 Check for excessive vibration, unusual noise or other signs of malfunction while the pump runs discontinue test if destructive failure appears

18 Record system suction and discharge pressure record other system data as required by appropriate checklist

20 Verify pump operates for appropriate time period minimum of 10 minutes for electric motor driven pumps

21 Periodically verify that the pump and driver are not overheating during test by placing your hand on the bearing covers for at least 12 seconds bearings should not exceed 180 degrees Fahrenheit

23 Stop the pump manually do not de-energize panel !!!

25 Turn jockey pump back on by restoring switch to the auto position

26 Open the discharge valve after the pump / inlet to building circuit

28 Notify Public Safety test is complete and the alarm system should be put back into normal service Notify Public Safety
