1 Graphs of Trig Functions
Unit 5 Day 10 Graphs of Trig Functions

2 Warm-up Solve the trig equations: 1.) 1 + cos (x) = 0 2.) 2sin(x)cos(x) + cos(x) = 0 3.) Find the area of the triangle if b = 11, a = 8, and Angle C = 37. Round to the nearest hundredth. 4.) Solve the triangle in problem #3. Round to the nearest tenth. x = 90⁰, -30⁰ x = 180⁰ 26.48 units squared Angle A = 46.2 ⁰ Angle B = 96.8 ⁰ c= 6.7

3 Homework Answers Pg. 19 Pg. 20 x = 30 x = 20 x = 0, 180 x = -90 (270)
x = 90 or 30 x = 45 x = 60 x = 0,90,-45 (315) x = 90, 120 Pg. 20 x = 20 x = 0, 180 x = 0 x = -7.5 (352.5) x = 30 x = 30, -30 (330) x = -60 (300) x = -120 (240)

4 An Exploration In Notes Work as a discovery

5 Graph Sin(x) Notes p. 30

6 Graph Cos(x) Notes p. 31

7 Graph Tan(x) Notes p. 32 What happens to tangent at 90o and 270o? Why is this happening?

8 Graphs of Trig Functions
Students can fill out the table and graph what they get on their own. Then we can review features of the graph after.

9 Remember!!! a. Angles are measured in b. We have to check our mode to make sure the calculator knows what measure we are using!! i. In this class, we will always use , but you should know that radians exist!  Make sure degree is highlighted radians and degrees degrees

10 Graphs of Trig Functions
Notes pg I think they can fill out the table and graph what they get on their own. Then we can review features of the graph after.

16 Period of a Function *Period is the length of 1 cycle.* OR
The cycle length of the curve. Y = sin(x) has a period of 360. y = cos(x) has a period of 360. y = tan(x) has a period of 180. We will talk about this more tomorrow!

17 Think of the pi as 180 degrees!!!
