2. Algebra 2
This course is the second step in the Algebra Sequence, in which students will:
Analyze and interpret polynomial and rational equations and functions, trigonometry, and probability and statistics
real-world applications
use technology
needed for advanced courses in mathematics
The content of this course are important for students’ success on both the ACT, SAT and college mathematics entrance exams. 

3. Supplies Needed for the Classroom
What your child will need in class EVERY DAY:
Notebook and Folder (or a 3-ring binder – I give a lot of worksheets so a binder is ideal)
Pencil or Pen
Their Minds
Ti-83 or Ti-84 Graphing Calculator

4. Grading Policy Homework/Classwork 20% Quizzes 30% Test/Projects 50%
Homework will be given. Late work will be accepted at half credit for up to one week. I will not remind you to complete missed assignments.
We will be doing various assignments during class throughout each marking period. Classwork will be graded on participation and correctness.
Quizzes 30%
Quizzes will usually be worth between points each (depending on length and difficulty). Mini Quizzes will be 15 points. Quizzes will be given more often than a test. They are used to tell both you the student and I the teacher where you are at understanding-wise with the material. PLEASE use them to study from.
Test/Projects 50%
Tests will be worth 100 points each. Projects can be worth one or two test grades, depending on the length and difficulty.

5. Make Up Work
If your child misses an assignment, it is to be made up as soon as possible after they come back. I will mark the assignment as MISSING in the gradebook until it is made up. This is a motivator to make up all work that missed.
Tests/Quizzes will also be marked as MISSING until made up. This may drastically change your child’s grade but again, it is a motivator to make the test up. If a week passes and the test is still not made up, a phone call/ will be sent home to the parent.

6. PARCC Testing PARCC Testing will take place in April (tentative)
PARCC Testing is all online, on the computer
Students will just be tested on the subject of their current math course (in this case, Algebra 2) but can relate back to topics learned in previous classes
Questions on the test tend to be more real world application questions.
