14 Policy as stated in handbook.. (page 12)
Students are asked to turn OFF all devices and leave them in their lockers or backpacks during the school day from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please note: Since lockers may not be secure, it is best to leave these at home. Cell phones and electronic devices may be used on school grounds if used outside of the school building before school, after school and during lunch time. When a student is found with one of these items, the staff member is instructed to take the device and turn it in to the office. A working cell phone must be turned in to the staff member. Students can turn it off but cannot remove their memory card, battery etc. The first time this happens the device will be given back to the student at the end of the day. The second time the student’s parent will have to come in and pick up the device in the office. If it happens a third time they will need to go before the Scio School Board and pick it up from them during one of their monthly meetings. If a student is caught with a device any time after three offenses or refuses to turn over their electronic device they will be subject to district disciplinary action that will include out of school suspension to expulsion

15 Cell Phone Enforcement Change
Due to recent events in this school and increased distractions created by cell phone use, the following procedure will be followed in room 7: NO CELLULAR DEVICES will be used or visible in class. (Keep it in your locker!) The first time you use or have your device visible in class, you will be prompted to take the device to your locker or put it in the teacher’s “device storage box”. After your first offense, the phone will be taken and given to the office as stated in school policy. You will have to pick it up there at the end of the day. If you have had your device sent to the office form other classes also, the office may require your parents to pick it up. Since that will take away from learning time, you will be given a lunch detention.
