3 Define Group Goals Reduce duplication? Broaden coverage?
Increase efficiency?

4 Assess Current Activity
What is the overlap? How is it occurring? Are good titles being missed? Are we all looking at the same marginal slips to avoid missing one or two good titles? Are there imprints or series we should be collecting comprehensively that we are not?

5 Reports for Looking at Duplication
Consortia: distribution by title Peer: ranking by acquisition type Peer: comparison by acquisition type

6 What is being missed? Not Bought Sort by quantity sold descending
Use interdisciplinary aspects as well as LC Advanced Search and GoBetween Allows for a more sophisticated search Select Values Non-Subject Descriptors Format Run advanced search in the largest participating library’s account exclude titles purchased then use GoBetween.

12 Notification Slip Overlap
Advanced or Standard Search Using Profile Date and GoBetween Approval Activity Report by LC Range Approval Activity Report by Imprint Approval Activity Report by Descriptive Parameter Approval Activity Report by Series Limit by content level and press type. No good way to pull data together—must be done in each library’s own account. Saving to Excel not ideal at this point, but still best bet especially if doing limited ranges.

14 Advanced search using supp, spec, and not select
Advanced search using supp, spec, and not select. Sort by quantity sold ascending. Look at GoBetween. Do we all need to see these imprints, textbooks, pop, etc?

25 Some Key Questions Who will run the reports?
What reports need to be run? When? What time frame will the reports cover? What other parameters should be taken into account? How should the results be shared?

26 Using GOBI to Communicate
GoBetween GOBI Save to Disk Shared Folders Library Notes Shared Slip Plans Shared account 2332, almost all reports have option, beware excel limitations,

27 Can sort by library note. Ascending brings them to the top.

28 Next Do we need to adjust approval plans?
Do we want to commit to a not bought program? Do we want to view certain slips in a shared environment? Do we think current duplication is necessary? Do we need further assistance from YBP to develop a program to meet our needs?

29 Questions?
