Wrote short stories that were dark with unexpected endings Wrote children’s stories that were macabre and darkly funny with children as the heroes against villainous adults in control of them. Famous stories of his: James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG, Matilda and The Witches
