6 Supply List Our PTA provides a very economical way to pre-purchase school supplies in a bundle. You can order them online. Information regarding school supplies will be available in the spring. The school store will also sell supplies throughout the year.

14 Personalized Learning
Students learn more and faster when the material is at the right level of difficulty and pace for him or her. Blended learning customizes each student’s education by (1) providing teachers with detailed, computer-generated information about the student’s learning needs and (2) freeing up more time for teachers to teach students individually and in small groups.

15 BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology)
Students are encouraged to bring their own devices to use for learning in the classroom. We have a list of apps for students to download to their personal devices on our BYOT webpage. Please help your student get these apps downloaded and installed. It is preferred that students bring their own device to school.

16 Digital Content o Achieve differentiated reading program to provides nonfiction material on the correct lexile level for each student. o Discovery Education - science and social studies tech books which provide electronic articles, simulations, experiments and assessments. o ALEKS - math assessment tool that helps teachers identify learning gaps.

It is coded as an Honors Course and taught in a highly interactive manner.

22 Academic Science or Honors Science
The curriculum is exactly the same in honors and academic science. In honors classes students benefit from having a strong math background. Honors students will have one independent research project a quarter the demonstrates higher level thinking skills and content analysis.

23 Academic Language Arts Honors Language Arts
Honors students read many challenging texts that are above grade level. Students are expected to read independently at home and respond to their reading in an analytical fashion. Honors students write longer compositions and are expected to write more frequently. The class moves at a rigorous pace.

24 Mathematics! – 2 Choices 1. Math 6 is a rigorous math course.
There is NOT an HONORS math course. 1. Math 6 is a rigorous math course. (Students who are deficient in math skills receive extra help during resource.) 2. Accelerated Math 6/ (Pre-Algebra)

28 Homework Students can expect minutes of homework per block each day from core subject areas. Students should not rely on resource to complete homework assignments. “BOB” is required in resource. (Silent reading for pleasure.) Projects will have clear directions and timelines.

31 1st Day Procedures! Ride the bus! You need school supplies and
lunch money. Please make sure your child has their up-to-date immunizations and drop off records with the nurse!

32 Course Requests Follow the Elementary Deadline
FSMS will send out a final course request sheet in May. No changes will be made in the summer to course requests! Requests for changes should be directed to the counselor. Math recommendations are closely followed.

33 Parent Communication The school’s web site is a vital tool for parents! Monitor your child’s grades online in Phoenix. Grades are updated every 10 days.
