Title VI Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, prohibits discrimination based on race, color, and national origin. Specifically, 42, USC 200d states that; “No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal Financial assistance.” 2014 GHSO Grant Orientation Workshop

GHSO Grantees’ Responsibilities
1 Appoint a Title VI Coordinator 2 Have appointed Title VI Coordinator trained 3 Develop and implement a Title VI Program 2014 GHSO Grant Orientation Workshop

What can YOU expect? TDOT’s Civil Rights Office Title VI Staff is required to monitor grantees for Title VI Compliance. 1 Onsite Reviews 2 Desk Audits The program manager provides grantees with the Title VI Assessment, electronically. It is the responsibility of the grantee to complete and print the assessment in advance of the program manager’s arrival. The program manager collects and submits it to the GHSO Deputy Director, who then submits it to the TDOT Civil Rights Title VI Director on behalf of the grantee. TDOT Civil Rights Title VI Program staff then follows our policy on reviewing the assessments. 2014 GHSO Grant Orientation Workshop
