Objective: Express rational numbers as decimals and decimals as fractions.

3 Vocabulary rational number – numbers of the form
where a and b are integers and b ≠ 0. terminating decimal – a decimal whose digits end. repeating decimal – a decimal whose digits repeat in groups of one or more. bar notation – in repeating decimals, the line or bar placed over the digits that repeat … =

4 Vocabulary rational numbers – ie. 1, ½, 0.5
natural numbers {1, 2, 3, …} whole numbers {0, 1, 2, 3, …} integers {… -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, …}

5 Write a Fraction as a Decimal
to express a fraction as a decimal, divide the numerator by the denominator. Write as a decimal. 0.1875 0.75

6 Write a Mixed Number as a Decimal
to express a mixed number as a decimal, take whole number + fraction divided out. Write as a decimal. (terminating decimal) (repeating decimal)

8 Write a Terminating Decimal as a Fraction
to express a terminating decimal as a fraction, put over 10, 100, etc. Write 0.32 as a fraction. (simplest form) Write – 0.1 as a fraction.
