6. Vending Machine Monitoring
In this example, a vending machine is connected via Ethernet to the Internet. Real time information, such as the amount of money, inventory status, or operating condition of the machine video can be streamed to any location with an IP address. The added cost is more than compensated by the improved efficiency made possible by reporting through the IP connection. Price changes could also be done remotely.

In this example, a video camera is connected via Ethernet to the Internet. Real time video can be streamed to any location with an IP address. 8. Building management HVAC Monitoring and Control
In this example, each HVAC unit is connected to a controller that adjusts room temperatures. The predefined temperatures are based on occupancy information received from the motel’s management software. The primary energy management server and the motel’s management servers are located in a central site, and they must be able to connect to the remote HVAC controllers.
