15 Relationships and Sex Education in Year 7
Key Stage 3: Where I am ‘Where I am’ examines the journey of transition from childhood, through adolescence towards adulthood, as young people encounter a bewildering array of new experiences. Our religious education is underpinned by guidance from the bishops conference of England and wales. Explain that the sexual relationships comes later. In year 7 the focus is upon relationships within family and plutonic friendships and the value and importance of these emotionally and s Our diocese, Clifton, uses the resources produded by the arch diocese of Birmingham – all that I am. KS3 is called where am I,

16 Relationships and Sex Education in Year 7
Key Stage 3: Where I am Your child will consider the importance of loving and respecting others as created in the image and likeness of God As an introduction to relationships within family and beyond your child will consider the concept of all people being made in God’s image with an emphasis on the moral responsibilities this brings particularly in terms of recognising the intrinsic value within all and the implications this has for our relationships with others.

17 Relationships and Sex Education in Year 7
Love needs family: Your child will examine the roles and responsibilities of family members. Your child will understand the context of the family as a community where members can grow in faith, hope and love Your child will develop insight into the reasons why forgiveness is an important aspect of all relationships. What are the roles and responsibilities for one another within our families, how we can support one another in families, how are families loving and there for each other. How do these roles work two ways from adult to child but also the responsibilities children have in relationship with their parents. We also consider where faith comes into the family context for Christians psrticually in relation to the value and power of forgiveness as demonstrated within the gospels.

18 Relationships and Sex Education in Year 7
Love needs friendship Your child will consider the importance of friendships. Your child will understand that love and friendship cannot be easily separated from ‘good’ and ‘bad’ experiences. To appreciate that for believers, God accompanies them in times of joy and sorrow. They then consider the value of friendship and how this sometimes comes with difficulties and challenges. This leads us into thinking about loss in its range of forms within relationships and how within Christian belief there is a strong sense of God's accompaniment in times of loss and sadness.

19 The right to withdraw from RSE
It is a statutory right of parents or carers to withdraw the children in their care from RSE. This excludes withdrawal from the elements on human growth and reproduction which fall under the National Curriculum science. Any parent wishing to withdraw their child from RSE should contact the Head of Pastoral who will arrange a meeting to discuss their concerns. RSE is a vital part of the school curriculum and supports child development and we strongly urge parents to carefully consider their decision before withdrawing their child from this aspect of school life. Right to withdraw is there although we strongly advise that RSE is an important of a child's education at St Augustine’s
